Assistant Professor of Clinical Optometry

Dr. Rachel Berkowitz, OD, is an Attending Optometrist at Lynn Community Health Center. She has a longstanding interest in community health and enjoys working with Lynn’s diverse patient population and mentoring student interns. Her professional interests include ocular disease, ocular manifestations of systemic disease, social determinants of health, and primary eye care. In addition, she serves in the Admissions Department as a faculty interviewer for prospective students.

Dr. Berkowitz received a BA with Honors in Psychology from Wesleyan University. She attended Illinois College of Optometry, where she was a member of the Gold Key and Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Societies. Dr. Berkowitz also served as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow in Chicago, where she provided eye care education and referral assistance at a community health center. After graduating cum laude from ICO, she completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care at the Boston VA Healthcare System in Brockton, MA. Dr. Berkowitz is a member of the American Optometric Society and the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists, and is currently pursuing fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry.
