Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind
We are recruiting for a part-time optometrist with low vision experience in the DC area. We serve low-income clients who are referred by state agencies and case workers. We currently do not have a doctor working at the clinic so we are unable to provide the much needed services. Examinations will take place at our low vision clinic in downtown Silver Spring. Clinic hours are one day a week (M-F) with some flexibility (i.e. you choose the day of the week that works)
Ideal candidate will have knowledge of low vision devices and common ocular pathologies. Experience with vision loss, stroke and/or traumatic brain injury patients a plus. Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Doctorate of Optometry degree from an accredited institution required, plus required licensure in DC, MD and VA. Must have a minimum of two to four years experience with clinical low vision care including pediatrics and binocular vision.
Since 1900, CLB's mission has been promoting independence for people who are blind or visually impaired. We provide a comprehensive range of programs and services for the nearly 180,000 people in Maryland, DC and Virginia who are blind or visually impaired.
Please send resume and cover letter with hourly pay requirement.
